    "USA will still need all the goods that it did before" ? Elasticity?

    "it will have to produce the goods themselves" Yep, it can do that (we're talking about the US of A, mate. Not Australia)

    " import them from somewhere else other than China" Yeah ... possible of course.

    "most likely just keep importing goods from China but paying higher consumer prices" Er, 'most likely' ? Me? if the price of something goes up 60% I ask myself if I really want it that much, can I live without it?, can I spend my $$$ elsewhere?
