Joel, they're screwed, ie., the central bankers and I think they know it. If they don't raise inflation will destroy householders with a mortgage anyway. If they raise then the US government defaults on their debt obligations. And here's an interesting little tidbit. USDT has now become the 7th largest buyer of US T bills. So, US T bills are now increasingly being backed by a crapto, that is backed by fiat, and the crapto has never been properly audited and is also the largest buyer of BTC, which Trump is now elevating to reserve status.
One could be forgiven for dreaming up a conspiracy here, that the US have plotted to replace Japan and China who are now net sellers of US treasuries and replace them with the general public via crypto. Sounds implausible right? Get the public to buy BTC and other cryptos with fiat USD and foreign, then use USDT to buy US treasuries.
