At present I am still mainly interested in the antimony - however the titanium at Mata Da Corda is obviously a very valuable asset.
I note in the recent ann that Zac refers to titanium characterisation testwork as a next step.
Titanium ores often coexist with REEs, as EQN's do, so the separation process will be well understood. If there are retained 'impurities' their effect on the physical properties of the refined Ti metal will need to be determined.
Titanium is a very difficult metal to prepare and work in manufacturing. It is alloyed in high temperature electric furnaces under extreme pressure, I believe this is to make the alloying elements mix as well as for other reasons.
Alloying elements include vanadium, aluminum, niobium, antimony, iron etc and so the presence of certain impurities may be beneficial.
Since this is EQN, and the Alturus antimony project is my main interest it is interesting that a major use of antimony is to harden lead by alloying. But you cant just melt the lead and throw in the antimony - they wont mix. You must first produce a 'mother' much richer in antimony then add that to the lead.
Quite a lot of antimony reaches the market in that form.
An AI search states :- Titanium characterisation testwork involves a range of analyses to determine its chemical composition, physical properties, and performance characteristics, including chemical composition analysis, surface characterization, and mechanical testing.
NEXT STEPS as stated in the ann, include the preparation of an MRE for the Ti and REEs.
And I expect plans are well advanced to get to work on Alturus - magnetics and lidar have been mentioned and when permitted, drilling will reveal the nature of the deposit and how it can be accessed. Hopefully via an adit at low level if the mineralised shear zone extends to depth with dip parallel to the surface slope..
There is also the little matter of the 10,000 tonnes of 'bulk sample' to collect - test - and sell.
Latest news is Sb is selling at > 52,000 USD per tonne.
Cheers, dyor - I just post stuff like this because it forces me to think it all out, for my own benefit. If it helps others a bit, that's a bonus.
