Aggregate shorts, behind by a week, fell a lot last Monday, the day of the highest gross shorts. 11M new shorts, yet the aggregate fell by 6M.
I think it's clear what is happening now. The daily shorting activity is holding down the price while stimulating supply for the old shorts to get out. Should see this in the rear view mirror T+4. Too many shorts (40M+) high and dry. This is a "short squeeze" but when the shorters are in control.
