That is a fantastic question. It all comes down to personal circumstances and risk profile. I can say that I'm now looking much more closely at the junior explorers and early stage developers, especially more advanced projects near cashed up producers. Ideally you want to find projects that have multiple avenues to monetisation.
In regards to RMS/SPR it looks like the arb traders are dominating the volume flowing between the two companies. I have a core position and a trade position in both SPR and RMS. The trade position is currently much smaller than the core position.
