Shallow high-grade gold at Sandstone sets Brighstar up for open-pit mining

The company completed 8,500 metres of reverse circulation drilling at the Vanguard Camp and its two deposits – with these part of Brightstar’s larger Sandstone Hub which holds 1.5 million ounces at 1.5g/t of gold.

At Vanguard North, results included three metres at 26.3 g/t Au from 26 metres, including one metres at 76.5 g/t Au from 27 metres; two metres at 28.8 g/t Au from 89 metres, including one metre at 55.2 g/t Au from 89 metres; three metres at 10.0 g/t Au from 66 metres, including one metres at 21.0 g/t Au from 89 metres.

Alongside this were drilling results from the Vanguard deposit, which included five metres at 12.5 g/t Au from 154 metres, including one metre at 51.2 g/t Au from 156 metres; and five metres at 3.89 g/t Au from 119 metres.

The final drill results clocked in at two metres at 5.83 g/t AU from 112 metres.

Brightstar surmised from the results that the deposits are amendable to open-pit mining.

“These results from the Vanguard Camp demonstrate the presence of high-grade mineralisation within our Sandstone Gold Project,” managing director Alex Rovira said after the drilling wrapped up.

“This is most notable at Vanguard North where gold is hosted in narrow quartz veins, at gold grades regularly exceeding 20g/t Au.

“The more complex Vanguard deposit has also produced significant high-grade material, both in the shallow domain as well as at depth.

“This,” he concluded, “is hugely exciting for potential future extensions to the deposit.”
