Respectfully disagree TD, a negotiated soft exit would not need to be a secret thing and IMO there is plenty of time to actually negotiate and agree on a plan moving forward...
The soft exit would allow the following...
First and most importantly a soft exit would give Lynas time to initiate and develop alternative processing facilities in another location. Since the negotiated soft exit would ensure Lynas hassle free operation during the exit process, Lynas will have continued earnings that could be used in expansion efforts...
Secondly, I'm pretty sure Malaysia will be looking for a way to allow continued Lynas operation as the powerful Japanese government will do everything they can to make sure the RE supply is not disrupted. Once again a soft exit gives Yeo the political victory she is committed to delivering to Fuzzy while providing Malaysia with an excuse to allow Lynas to continue to operate for the prescribed period...
Finally, with a soft exit Japan would be insured a continuous supply of the RE's it needs to stay in business. We all know this is a key variable in the complex Malaysian equation and the importance of this cannot be minimized. Japan will have the RE's it needs and the most likely source is Lynas in some form or other...
Bottom line, something has to be done to stop the ridiculous charade currently being pursued by a fragmented unstable Malaysian government. Fuzzy will not give up until Lynas is gone so why not leverage a WA expansion with a soft exit from Malaysia. I realize this is just one idea of many but it is also important that instead of just defining the problem we develop solutions that may benefit everyone involved... JMHO...
