Remy,
My take on the matter is that the war is just a passing parade and not an underlying fundamental for market weakness.
(The war's main function to now has been to act as an excuse for financial talking heads in the media to explain anything that goes on in the market.)
The big problem is the USD.
While our market and to an extent the Europeans are becoming very attractive yield plays in this enviroment of low interest there is a combination of things that are stopping a flow of funds into the above equities;
Movement in the DOW sets the tone globally.
The USD the world is convinced will go lower.
This weakness is now a defined trend and is causing a 'Flight of capital' purely on currency terms.
Result weaker DOW and as the world knows in 2003 it is impossible for a major index to appreciate when the DOW is falling.
Rob.
