    GZ  Wiki pointed to about 80,000 fighters but I assume that includes Dad's Army type contingents and as the ISIS war is largely over, many fighters will be seeking to return to civilian life and engage in reconstruction activities.

    Should Turkey attack at this point I would assume that PKK units from Iraq and Turkey itself would join the fray.  Essentially we would see an expansion of Turkey's own civil war  into Northern Syria.

    Longer term, Afrin based SDF/YPG units have stated that they will join a united Syrian Army under a federalist / devolved governance structure.  That offer should be attractive to Assad but my guess is that his Iranian puppet masters don't like the idea because it would return power to actual Syrians.
