    Kam,  Jesus showed the Elijah the Jews looked forward to was fulfilled in John the Baptist.


    (Matthew 17:10-13) However, the disciples put the question to him: “Why, then, do the scribes say that E·liʹjah must come first?”  In reply he said: “E·liʹjah is indeed coming and will restore all things.  However, I say to you that E·liʹjah has already come, and they did not recognize him but did whatever they wanted with him. In this way also, the Son of man is going to suffer at their hands.”  Then the disciples perceived that he spoke to them about John the Baptist.


      He was the one that came to prepare the people for the coming of the Messiah.

     (John 1:6-8) There came a man who was sent as a representative of God; his name was John.  This man came as a witness, in order to bear witness about the light, so that people of all sorts might believe through him.  He was not that light, but he was meant to bear witness about that light.

    (John 1:29) The next day he saw Jesus coming toward him, and he said: “See, the Lamb of God who takes away the sin of the world!
