No, Transfer via transmission only just park the ship and via HV discharge the charge from the ship.
So unload the charge not the electrolyte. The ship returns discharged ie: empty like any freighter on its unloaded journey. No trucking required the ship owner owns the Electrolyte and sells the megawatts just like a power station sells its megawatts. The owner of the power station still owns the station the ship owner still has his assets. He has only discharged the electrical charge.
On return to the charging station located port side the ship plugs back in and reloads a charge in megawatts capacity and steams off or rather with the use of the stored energy if great enough for propulsion and sail power, sails off.
Port side , like large petroleum tanks but are filled with vanadium electrolyte which have gained charge from solar panels and or tidal & wind generation and transmitted to the port side tanks.
Western Australia or such where its nothing to install 1 million panel type solar collectors and transmission to a storage facility. If they can produce the energy it just requires storage just like in Dalian China where the biggest VRFB is being placed now whats wrong with the concept of shipping the energy as gas and oil is shipped now.
