The Australian Securities and Investments Commission has promised to focus on insider trading this year, amid continuing instances of shares prices mysteriously moving before an announcement.

Charles Macek, a director of Telstra and Wesfarmers, reckoned the market was "not very secure".

"It's ironic that the investment banks should be complaining about insider trading," he said. "The view we have is if we bring in investment bankers, we are increasing the likelihood of a leak."

Too right. How many companies are being "advised" by the likes of UBS ? And how many of those companies have suspicious gyrations in substantial holdings by those same swiss clowns ?
