This is a forum about a business so let's talk about its business. I'm fairly sure you don't wake up in a morning and say "damn my house value hasn't budged since last night"

Theoretically a share price should not move until there is an announcement. Obviously in practice it is not the case due to random walks; however, theoretically a piece of information is received and the market immediately adds to all other bits of information and finds a fair value for the company. That fair value remains until some other bit of meaningful information tilts the balance one way or the other.

In a perfectly rational market share prices would stay dormant for long periods then move considerably higher or lower in one swoop in response to new-news, followed by another period of dormant.
