    you dont agree with buybacks to increase EPS?

    i would much rather a buyback than just have them sit on the funds for a while in a term deposit. you dont invest in equitys for such returns

    i do however see your point that maybe WBC is paying more than it would have to if it took smaller parcels over a longer time frame however in the terms of the buyback they have set a maximum price. It is rather high at approx $17.14?

    However if a company has large cash reserves and nothing better to do with it they should do a buyback as it also represents that thecompany is happy to invest in itself and it would be unlikely (i hope) for a company that believes it share price is going to decline to prop up the price with its earnings, without believing that they are getting value for the purchase.

    banks are overpriced anyway. wait next month for rate rise
