SPI Futures traded in a 36 point range last night, with a high of 6282, low of 6246 and a close this morning of 6252, down 17 points on lowish volume of 8,506 contracts. Based on that range, my pivot point and R and S levels are below. What a day yesterday was. Green arrow all the way, then down once SPI became a futures contract again, not a follower of the XJO. There was a gap down on the ES which told me SPI was going down after the day close. Gaps up at 81 which I think I'll worry about later, 61, 58 and 56. Gaps down at 38, and the remnants from previous days at 6201, 6191, 6188, 6186, 6184, 6182, 6174, 6171, 6166 and 6157. DOW up .26 pct, SNP up .05 pct and Canada (resource driven) down .08 pct. VIX down 1.14 pct to 12.18. Nice.

Today in 1991, the Dow Jones closed above 3,000 for the first time (3,004.46). Propelled by lower interest rates and expectations that the US recession would end, the Dow gained 17.58 points, on strong volume of 246.9 million shares, and closed at 3,004.46. It had risen 27 percent since Oct. 11. Today the DOW stands at 26,452.66. Where's that time machine when you need it ? Have a nice day.
