Wednesday is on my mind these days …
Apollo 11 landed on the moon (or was discretely filmed in a remote studio) on a Wednesday.
In 23/2/1910 the bizarre “Lake Hill Bacon” bill in Louisiana was narrowly defeated on a Wednesday … a plan to import wild hippopotamus from Africa to farm in the Louisiana swamps to relieve a critical meat shortage.
On Wednesday 4/7/1776 the U.S. Declaration of Independence was formally adopted.
Continuing on a theme of wonder, the U.S. jobs report out last night listed an unexpected huge jump in job openings (availability) … the market loved it … never mind that the report also showed U.S. businesses are not hiring or firing to be able to fill those openings.
This “hot” paper-only metric creates a headache for the Fed as sudden spike signals potential wages pressure, forcing higher for longer interest rates. Also if the jobs market was as genuine as the booming openings figures suggest, workers would be confident in leaving their existing secure jobs, but low jobs turnover says otherwise.
Best of luck to all tonight (Boltat) … I know I need it lol.
