    employment estimates for March, released by the Australian
    Bureau of Statistics on Thursday.

    The total employment fall of 42,800 in the month was split
    between a fall of 64,800 in full-time employment and a rise of
    21,900 in part-time employment.
    Forecasts had centred on a rise of 10,000 jobs, an
    unemployment rate of 6.1 percent and a participation rate of 64.4
    percent.
