More nonsense, Musk draws all his NdFeB & PMM components from the Motherland, he wouldn't dare try anywhere else, go look at his Shanghai lease terms.

Lynas future far more tied to VW, the Board recently approved 2x 800M, presumably euro & USD respectively, to to add EV assembly lines at existing plants in Hannover & Chattanooga, looking to production 2022/23.

"MEB production network growing around the world

The Transparent Factory is already the fourth site in the world producing Volkswagen electric cars based on the Modular Electric Drive Toolkit. The first site, the Zwickau plant, kicked off MEB production. At the end of 2020, the Chinese sites in Anting and Foshan also started production of MEB vehicles. Together, these four plants have a maximum production capacity of more than 900,000 vehicles a year. The next sites in Emden, Hanover and Chattanooga (USA) are also preparing for MEB production."

That's six plants, well in excess Mpa vehicles, where is the NdFeB coming from for all those PMM required, traction & otherwise?

Perhaps Nidec has ambitions, planning to establish PMM plants in Poland or Serbia & Mexico, both 2.4M capacity, but where will all the NdFeB come from? They also plan 3.6M units in China, but we know exactly where that NdFeB will be sourced.

    https://www.electrive.com/2020/11/03/nidec-invests-billions-in-bid-to-become-e-drive-market-leader/

Tesla is a minnow compared to Nidec's ambitions to produce 5M NdFeB traction motors by 2025, on top of already being the largest small motor & actuator manufacturer globally, and VW for that matter. Note their ambitions to produce 12M units > "more and more car manufacturers have contacted suppliers like Nidec in order to be able to concentrate on their core competencies – the once important drive system is now becoming a supplier part."

There lies the future of Lynas, the ability of ROW to build out the middle supply chain between oxides & PMM, quickly, very quickly, without further EU circle jerks & US sloth & corruption. No single company, no single country can hope to put something sustainable together in the face of the Dragon's dominance & 2025 ambitions, Lynas has built the resource base, ROW definitely has the expertise/innovation PMM, what is required to pull it together on a LT viable base?

BTW, Nidec very into PMM 48V e-Drive for Mild Hybrid and inner urban full traction Electric Vehicle, there is absolutely no Q 48V architecture will make a meaningful contribution to NdFeB demand, sheer volumes will dictate it:
