Unfortunately, you are right NBD. But ads do make the cash registers jingle, so there will be no free TV without ads.
I remember the days when one had to purchase a licence to watch TV and listen to the radio. The fact that both are free now should tell you why we are subjected to a constant drizzle of advertising - it's everywhere and one grows a thick skin - I think - I know, I have.
