"Murray nails it here and calls Turnbull a cancer."
If I had a malignancy, you and Murray would be the last people I would come to as your diagnosis is flawed.
In my view the primary lesions in the Liberal party are the likes of Abbott, Andrews, and Abetz.
It's from there the problem seems to have metastasized.
I would suggest it's useless to attack any Metastases without first dealing with any primaries.
In my view radical surgery is required if the Liberal party is to recover from it's current position.
Abbott, Andrews and Abetz. All conservative Catholic activists from the
National Civic Council and Bob Santamaria fans - the guy who infiltrated and split the Labor Party in the 1950s.
Santamaria took his orders not from Australians but from the Catholic hierarchy and Archbishop Daniel Mannix, seeking to impose Catholic laws on secular Australians. (Sound familiar to any Islamophobes out there?)
But with Santamaria's Democratic Labour Party gone, the National Civic Council found that less than 3% of Australians supported their brand of extreme religious activism. They had to infiltrate a new major party and take it over. And that's what happened in the late 1980s and 1990s. Abbott, Bernardi, Andrews and Abetz are just some of their religious conservative activists smuggled into the Libs. They branch stripped and branch stacked, and weaselled their way into the Liberal Party machine.
Now, as you say, it's time for radical surgery to cut them out, like the Labor Party did to them in the 1950s. Enough.
