A lot of this has nothing to do with the source of power, but everything to do with expanded suburbs and increased use of appliances like air conditioners. Of course base load is still a problem, but the Labor plan utilizes es gas as a future guarantee. The reason gas is so expensive has nothing to do with renewables, as demonstrated by one of the first replies I gave you - it's the sweet deals (yes, another type of subsidy to fossil fuel companies) exporters of gas received by - and you guessed it... the Coalition. But anyways, with all this - it is still far cheaper than fossil or nuclear alternatives. How about you do some explaining? Explain why a new nuclear industry using reactors of a type that still haven't been built anywhere in the world for 350 billion dollars of TAX PAYER money (which if history is any guide will probably blow out to near a TRILLION - you know, this is all coming from the 'small' government side) is better. Oh and who's going to take the waste? Don't forget that little detail.
