It can take decades to get new technology down pat and commercially viable.
Given the amount of money being spent in the space its a risky play and most definitely a gamble. Its a rapidly changing industry and this is part of the reason that money can be hard to come by. In the case of PLS the return should be very quick to any lender so it shouldn't be a factor I would have thought.
Just like everyone thinks on here that EVs are coming quicker than most think
with subsidies and big investment, mainly from China, I think its also fair to say that commercialisation can also now happen quicker than before. There are some very smart cookies worldwide trying to improve batteries every day with lots of funding also so I think its possible battery technology/efficiency will be double or better within the next decade. What chemistries that will be used who knows. Its possible it could be just a similar chemistry to the current batteries with a percentage of silicon embedded in the anode. This seems to be where the big push is currently with the most advances. Here is a company from Silicon Valley that are making some big claims, with some heavyweight backers and some heavyweight minds on the team, lithium component seems to be the same but with silicon embedded in larger amounts than usual in the graphite anode.

There are alot of companies that have claims somewhat similar to this.
This is what I see as the main risk to PLS. I really cant see too much else and this is a long term risk moreso than short term.
Has it ever been mentioned by management that shareholders can be considered as a lender? Instead of giving it only to a large institution at 10-15% p/a surely shareholders would be willing to step up to take on that risk but the question is will management do that or will they make an excuse that it is too much of a hassle?
