The ASX queried ARAFURA RESOURCES (ASX:ARU) after its shares
touched 88c yesterday and closed at 84c, up 7c on the day, on turnover
    about 10 times average.
The stock is up from 70c last Thursday.
The company wrote one of the most comprehensive replies we have
    seen lately.
The most interesting part was about how the prices of its
    commodities have risen.
The company said there had been a number of influences on
commodity prices for rare earths and phosphoric acid.
Recent trades of phophoric acid have exceeded $US1000 a tonne
with recent reports of trades of 1200 euro a tonne while Arafura has
used a conservative $US400 a tonne for its pre-feasibility studies.
Also, the recent imposition of Chinese tariffs and restricted
export quotas meant the inherent value of the rare earths contained in
Arafura's Nolans deposit increased from $US11,600 a tonne to more than
    $US15,000.
Anyway, Arafura is prone to bursts of activity.
The latest effort pales beside the run on the shares from 52c in
late March to $2.28 on April 17.
