when i was a kid i saw a "genius" from a new york penthouse interviewed on oz TV. Don Lane i think it was. This lady was not even a trader. just a very very wealthy lady who made money when she needed it. she just said there were one or two times every year or so to trade and this was one of those times.
got me beat but there are clearly signs which obviously I am missing.
I will leave it to brains trust to work it out.
for lesser mortals like me i try and separate each period into churn to avoid or reduce holdings if i can and periods when the market is trending especially the big caps.
i have my sequence working to some extent and also my set buy periods but it is a pretty wide brush that i am using
good luck all but it is beyond me to identify it.

thanks for all your posts @cha, they are very informative, really give the novices like me some thinking points.
March/April last year really was a gift in hindsight, although the more experienced no doubt knew that. @3500 was spot on if I remember correctly.
