The 'Beirut Bombers'?

  1. The Lebanese coach & the captain are Aussies, as is Hassan Saleh - Rabbitou was a surprise ommission from the team - perhaps he is being saved for the upcoming test against Israel. ;)

One would expect that the Lebanese forwards will hunt as a pack & employ gang tackling to grind the opposition into submission.

In today's Sunday Telegraph, writer Paul Kent suggests that the test will be "explosive".

    Lebanon Vs France Match Details

Lebanon coach John Elias has selected the final squad for the Rugby League Test match against France on November 2. As an official cultural event of FrancoBis 2002 this international match will be completely free of charge and is set to mark a number of firsts.

It will be the first time a rugby league international has been staged in Lebanon, the first time a French national side of any sport plays in Lebanon, as well as the Lebanon National Rugby League team's first match on Lebanese soil.

As part of rugby league's development process in Lebanon, which has been ongoing as a result of that World Cup entry since March, three players from the local competition - Mohammed Habbous, Sami Moutran and Faysal Al-Hashash have been included in the squad to gain experience at the elite, international level. The Cedars arrive on October 28, the French on October 31. The November 2nd match kicks off at 5.30pm in Tripoli's International Stadium.

    LEBANON SQUAD:

George Azzi (Jeih); Michael Coorey, Frank Samia (both Khfarsghab); Ray Daher (Hadchit); Monah Elahmad, Mohammed Habbous, Hazem El Masri (captain),Bilal Najjarin (all Tripoli); Samer El Masri (Abu Samra); Anthony Farah (Sebille); Robert Farah, Charlie Farah (El-Bouhary); Joe Lichaa (Frodeyce); Hassan Saleh (Bharbouche); Chris Salem (Batroun); Chris Saab (Haddad); Anthony Semrani (Daraya); Faysal Al Hashash, Sami Moutran (Beirut). COACH: John Elias (Hardeen).

The match is live in LBCI (international) but delayed on LBC (Lebanon) to try and get as many people into the ground as possible. (I don't like the sound of that)
