    I'd retort by saying that any system that was designed to ensure people a reasonable quality of life in retirement and reduce the burden on the government that ultimately became inequitable and with shifting goal posts is a failure. I consider it an experiment as the government attempted to distance itself from the responsibility of supporting the older generation through pension. So why not garnish wages!

    The fact is all super calculations assume that upon retirement you'd own your own home. Thats not going to happen these days... so we've locked billions of dollars up in "can't touch" savings accounts that money men get to play with producing nothing and supporting few.

    I'm in my late 30's so my perspective is different, but i don't factor superannuation into any future planning as it will no doubt get hit by a few financial crisies during my time, it will be taxed and fees to death and the age will keep moving back.
