    Swiftel Communications Pty Ltd a wholly owned subsidiary of Swiftel Ltd (ASX:SWT) has signed an agreement to access Telstra Wholesale's national network in Perth, Melbourne, Sydney and Brisbane.

    Swiftel will have use of Telstra Wholesale's extensive network, products and services in Melbourne, Sydney and Brisbane to provide the last-mile connection between its Points of Presence and customer's premises.

    The agreement allows Swiftel the right to install their equipment in Telstra exchanges throughout Perth, Melbourne, Sydney and Brisbane, linking Swiftel directly to Telstra's nationwide network.

    Swiftel Chief Executive Officer Chris Gate said the deal with Telstra Wholelsale would open up significant new CBD business opportunities in each of the capital cities, and allow Swiftel to offer its full range of corporate products and services.

    "This is a very significant step for Swiftel, and is in line, with our Company strategy to grow the business into the Eastern States," Mr Gale said today.

    "The deal will accelerate growth in revenues by tapping directly into the corporate markets of Australia's largest business districts.

    "It provides us with a truly national network, minus the costly capital expenditure associated with installing last mile infrastructure, and gives us the ability to offer new and existing customers a unique range of products and services.

    "Swiftel's strategy is to grow the business in the larger CBD markets by employing sales staff in each capital city and utilising the marketing skills that increased our Perth revenues by more than 300 per cent last financial year."

    Telstra Wholesale's Head of Sales, Mr Kurt Hansen, said Swiftel's new range of products and services would increase competition in the telecommunications sector.

    "Utilising Telstra Wholesale's extensive range of products and services and DSL infrastructure will bring many new and exciting opportunities to Swiftel, and its customers," he said.
