The following quote from the Australian investigators in Bali and the claim by Imam Samudra the alleged ringleader both indicate a suicide bomber started the chain of events in Bali.

""Since the early days of examination of Paddy's tavern, we've been working on the theory that there may have possibly been a suicide bomber in that bar," Commissioner Keelty said.

"It's consistent with the forensic examination of the bar and it's also consistent with what we're getting from the post-mortem examination of one of the bodies in the mortuary up in Bali."

Police will test DNA evidence collected from the west Java home of the man named by Samudra as Iqbal.

Indonesia's chief investigator on the Bali probe, General Made Pastika, says police found an upper body with pieces of fabric blown into the flesh and the same fabric was found across a wide area around the bar."

At the root of this Muslim extremism lies poverty and resentment at the US over manipulation of politics and power to serve US "interests". Capture and conviction of the perpetrators is important but the root problem must be addressed as well. It would be a terrible world if even 1% of Muslims (or others) became potential suicide bombers. That would be 12 million suicide bombers.
