Szaba,
Objectives they’re not going to fully achieve and yet Russia continues its war. You were talking about sacrifice, did you mean a pointless one on Russia’s part?
Boris Johnson played not part, I see this a more fantasy talk like Russia capturing Odesa. Russian war crimes and their inability to militarily dictate terms ended the talks in 2022. Russia is essentially in the same location as where they ended 2022 after having lost half the territory they had managed to capture in that year. They’re not going to capture Odesa, they’re not going to fully capture the reduced areas of Ukraine they now claim, they’re not even certain to capture Donbas in the next years. Again, it comes back to what I said before, what Russia wants versus what they can accomplish with their war are not the same.
Trump and the US administration he represents provides no financial assistance to Ukraine, the US intelligence Ukraine was using has been mostly supplanted by the French, the US only provides limited sales of air defence missiles to Ukraine. Like what Russia wants versus what they can accomplish applies here to what Trump can promise to Russia versus what he can deliver, not the same.
I see “largely intact” as incompatible with “want it saved from destruction”. If Russia was t bombing Odessa there would be zero destruction to save it from.
