I've searched far and wide, and have been unable to find any videos showing Ukrainian troops retreating on donkeys / camels. So if there was some sort of a swap deal with the Russians, Ukrainians got duped.
Although to be fair, I haven't found any videos of Russian camel-back cavalry waves chasing down the retreating Ukrainians either. Lots of drone footage of "organized" Ukrainian retreat (mostly on foot). Perhaps the story about the donkey/camel game changer was a fake?
