I know that you keep harping on about Russia stealing land from the Ukraine as imperialism. That may be so as per 19C thinking but extractive imperialism has moved on since then .
The 20th C has seen "boots on the ground" imperialism morph into financial & economic imperialism led by the USA , its institutions , its Multinationals and of course its Greenback.
The purpose of 18-19th imperialism was to be economically extractive but Uncle Sam devised its "imperialism" post WW2 starting with the Bretton Woods Agreement at a time when the rest of the world was virtually bankrupt due to WW2 and the hang-over from WW1.
Nixon tweaked the system by removing the Gold Standard and in the US Military did the rest (dont mention the CIA!)
This is why the US today has the ability to impose devastating economic sanctions as a prelude to/compliment to war.
Will US led economic sanctions work on Russia? Given that they have not worked on Cuba, N/Korea, Iran or Venezuela yet, then there is good reason to believe that they will not have the desired effect on Russia either; ie, to bring about regime change.
