    G'day folks,

Today we mourn the passing of rugby leage, the working mans game that inspired many to high achievement.

Last night the Sydney Swans got the same crowd size to a regular game as Rugby League did a few nights ago to the state of origin game in the same stadium. Now s.o.a. is claimed to be the pinnacle game in Rugby Leage and it could only fill 2/3 of the stadium. Compare that to what is happening in Aussie Rules and Rugby Union.

The media men are driving League and a lot of people earn a crust from it as pundits/reporters/gurus and they are trying to hold it up but what are the odds they are to go the way of the dodo. Judging by crowd numbers in Rules, Sydney could handle another three or four clubs and still have average gates higher than League but I suspect it may take only one more club to see the lid being closed on league. Perhaps the problem is there aren't so many working men these days and those that there are can't afford the crazy gate prices to take their families along.

Soccer will eventually knock both of them over as the funds curently going into League will switch to the world game and then it will be all over red rover.

Just thought I would do a little stirring - it is Sunday after all.

p.s. I am thinking of apply for the position of media mogul for the Australian Soccer Federation. LOL
