Fun times to be had at Thanksgiving.

Ronna Romney McDaniel, Republican National Committee chairwoman and niece of Sen. Mitt Romney, stood by President Trump after her uncle announced that he would vote to convict the commander-in-chief in the Senate impeachment trial.

“This is not the first time I have disagreed with Mitt, and I imagine it will not be the last. The bottom line is President Trump did nothing wrong, and the Republican Party is more united than ever behind him,” McDaniel tweeted Wednesday afternoon.

“I, along with the @GOP, stand with President Trump,” she added.

McDaniel’s response was far less aggressive than that of President Trump’s, who sent off a fiery tweet late Wednesday night.

“Had failed presidential candidate @MittRomney devoted the same energy and anger to defeating a faltering Barack Obama as he sanctimoniously does to me, he could have won the election,” Trump wrote.

The Utah senator did not tell any colleagues about his decision in advance of his announcement, according to CNN, which added that there was significant frustration with his decision from GOP colleagues behind the scenes.

On Wednesday, the 2012 presidential candidate broke with members of his party to become the only Republican to vote to convict President Trump on one of the two articles of impeachment.
