Question for the oil guru's, page-2

    Hi Gryphon1,

Logging is done for many reasons, may be scheduled
for different time throughout the course of a well.

It depends a lot on the operator's policy and their
previous goelogical knowledge of the area, where the
    well is being sunk.

Some drilling schedules will call for logging to be done
before (and sometimes after) running each section of
    casing.

Then they will send the logging tools down for other
reasons too ... like to actually measure the well bore
(a caliper log), a concrete bonding log (CBL), various
geological logs and small down hole samples taken from
    sidewall cores.

There's many other logs too, like velocity shots, which
uses a remotely generated sound wave to obtained
high grade information of the strata below.

So, unless you know exactly which type of logging
suite they are running, then it is just something for
the company to put in a report to the ASX ... leaving
    traders non-the-wiser ...... lol

Having said that, if you can get hold of the drilling
curve for the well concerned, you can see how they
have planned the well and how they are progressing
against the original prognosis ..... not always easy to
    do.

    hope this helps some.

    yogi
