    Quadtel's Ningbo deal

Sydney-based broadband distributor Quadtel Ltd last month said it was finalising arrangements to take a 7.5 per cent state in a telecommunication company based in Ningbo, Zhejiang province, on China's eastern coastline. The Ningbo telco is a joint venture between GWT Communication Network Co and JiTong Communications Co, one of China's largest telcos. At the moment, the JiTong broadband network is one of two full scale data networks competing on a national level among just five licensed network service providers. Quadtel would help provide a wireless "last mile solution" to the network's more than 200,000 clients within the Ningbo region, and in addition to its 7.5 per cent stake, becomes the sole supplier of equipment to the network. The company will supply equipment to the 2600 businesses to be connected in the first quarter of this year - an order valued at A$1.75 million. Revenue from the first year of the supply contract is estimated at a minimum A$25 million. Quadtel has received a A$4.5 million loan from London Partners to help cover the costs of the acquisition.
