That would be better than exporting coal but I doubt it would happen.
What was interesting was the discussion on the Adani mine with the LNP saying it would generate thousands of jobs and the ALP saying Adani's business plan calls for a fully automated process from mine-site to port which would not generate many jobs at all.
The truth probably lies somewhere in between but IMO the Adani project would not be the big employer of local labour that the pro Adani mob try to paint it as being. Also outside of two or three central Queensland electorates there is little public support for Adani and even in those electorates support will fall if the mine ever gets up and running and the jobs are not there.
Waters could be correct in that alternative energy projects might generate more jobs than a fully automated coal mine.
