all nations around the world should legislate out of existance this concept of Multinationalism in companies.
Companies, via their wealthy major shareholders, exert too much influence, if not control, over the governments of most democratic and probably some undemocratic countries. I believe Multinational Companies are the reason behind the worlds tensions.
Who the fu*#ing he!! are they to dictate how this world progresses. So what if such a system (abolition of multinationalsim) caused a slouch in technological advancement. All this [email protected] of becoming "achievers", presumably for the sake of mankind, is just that, [email protected]
Think about it, apart from some new toys such as cell phones, dvd, desktop printing, etc etc., how has all this achievement really benefited our lives. Most of us work harder and longer than before; our new toys that we hardly get to use, cost us money to use and maintain, money that most people work harder and longer to get (cant stress that enough). Has all this new technology made you more friendly with your neighbours ? Has it improved your relations with your family and friends ? Do you socialise more, or less ?
The way I see it, tv, vcr, dvd, games and this b!00dy thing I'm using now, has only allowed people to effectively ostracise themselves from society.
OK, I can hear it now, "what about medical advances".
Yes, granted, there has been much to applaud and so many of these advancements provide so much promise. When will all this be translated to improved health-care for the bulk of society and not just those whom are above average in wealth ? If these bigots that decide these issues were really serious about society, they'd be using these new technologies to improve our lives by by fostering friendly interaction with our friends and rellies instead of allowing us to contain ourselves in our littles boxes with roofs. Yes, I know. we all have choice, and life isn't and could never be quite so simple, but there is something wrong with the way in which the notion and pursuit of achievement and technological advancement is pandered to the world.

There is much to be savoured in that age-old adage:

"we're here for a good time, not a long time"
