As long as I have been investing in the stockmarket I have noticed weird bids placed prior to the market opening (for example there is someone currently offering 5000 ARQ shares for 80 cents when the highest bid is currently 90 cents, this common situation has also occurred with Hardman and many others).

I was wondering whether these bids have any point? Are they simply trying to scare inexperienced investors out of a stock? or are there other reasons?

I was also wondering what price this parcel of shares would actually be traded for, i.e. would the person placing this low offer lose money on open?

    Any comments appreciated.
