Production testing will commence as soon as the big rig is pulled apart. A long wait but looking great. There was an announcement yesterday saying the Tariki seems to be off a bit to the west of the current well so maybe still reachable or through the fracture zones?

Australian Worldwide Exploration Limited, on behalf of its
wholly-owned subsidiary, AWE New Zealand Pty Limited, ("AWE"), advises that, as at 0600 hours, 31 July, the rig was being dismantled prior to release later today, the well having been completed for long term production testing of two oil bearing zones encountered.

During the week the uppermost Kapuni sand was perforated over the interval 4,371- 4,409 metres and a fracture zone within the Murihiku basement was perforated over the interval 4,261- 4,285 metres. The
well has been completed so that both zones can be tested separately or together.

Testing and oil storage equipment is ready for installation once the rig has been moved from site. Negotiations to transport and sell any oil produced are in progress and are expected to be finalised soon.
Testing operations are anticipated to begin on about 10th August. The programme will initially involve several short term tests in which the well will be flowed for several days and shut in for similar periods to collect reservoir pressure information. These will be
followed by longer term tests designed to evaluate the productivity and size of the oil accumulation.

The Huinga prospect is located on the prospective eastern margin trend in the Taranaki Basin, New Zealand, north of the recently drilled Makino-1. The prospectivity of this trend has been established by the Rimu and Kauri discoveries, and further enhanced
by the results of the Makino-1. Huinga-1B was directionally drilled from the existing Huinga 1/1A well bore, to target the Tariki sandstones and Kapuni Group sandstones at a location approximately 550 metres west of the Huinga wellsite.
