    Achieves another milestone

DEAKIN FINANCIAL SERVICES GROUP LIMITED 2003-01-13 ASX-SIGNAL-G

    HOMEX - Melbourne

    +++++++++++++++++++++++++
Deakin Financial Services Group Ltd General Manager Sales and
Marketing, Mr Graeme Hyland today announced that the group had
commenced the New Year with the achievement of a significant
    milestone.

"Today we finalized the appointment of Deakin's 150th adviser," said
Mr Hyland. "I am very confident that we will attain Deakin's business
objective to expand our distribution network to 200 nationally in
    this calendar year."

Since the start of the current financial year, Deakin has focused on
ensuring that its infrastructure would support and facilitate its
    growth objectives.

In particular the provision of outstanding service and support for
Deakin's advisers has been the primary mission.

"We believe that service and support for advisers must be provided at
a local level and be easily accessible," continued Mr Hyland.

Recently Deakin announced the appointment of Mr Bill Crawford as the
State Manager for Queensland with responsibility for New South Wales
until a Sydney based Manager is appointed.

Although Deakin's distribution network continues to grow steadily in
Victoria and Western Australia where it has long-established state
offices, advisers have also been appointed in Queensland in response
to the creation of the new office and the State Management
    appointment.

Next month Deakin will launch its new Wrap product Deakin Smartplan.
The new product will further strengthen Deakin's position in the
Australian financial services marketplace and is integral in its
plans to grow the business on a national scale and attract additional
    advisers.

"Independence and exemplary service and support that is delivered at
the local level are the strengths on which we are building Deakin
nationally. These attributes are crucial to the adviser wishing to
enhance the long term relationship with clients and to operate their
business effectively and profitably," concluded Mr Hyland.
