Gold stocks such as Lihir Gold , Newcrest Mining and Aurion Gold could succumb to profit taking, in line with the overnight trend in Canada and the United States, as investors venture beyond the safe haven.
Helping longer term resilience, bullion dealer Deutsche Bank raised its average forecast for gold for 2002 to $296 an ounce from its previous $285 because of political tensions, reduced producer hedging and increased investment demand. It upped its forecast for 2003 to $300 from $290 and 2004 to $305 from $292. ---------------------------------------------------
