Range to drill nine Forrestania targets

PERTH-based gold and nickel explorer Range Resources is planning an early November start to RC drilling of nine targets at its Forrestania project in Western Australia after completing mapping, soil surveys, and helicopter and ground EM surveys.

Three geochemical soil surveys carried out at Forrestania in past months have identified at least four areas showing anomalous gold, with one area returning up to 194 parts per billion gold, according to the company's geological consultant Mark Gifford.

Gifford said the drilling program will focus on targets from ground EM work, and will include down-hole EM measurements.

"The relationship of the geology, geochemistry and geophysical data compiled to date gives guarded support for the presence of significant nickel and gold mineralisation," Gifford said.

Range completed its acquisition of Forrestania in December last year, for a total consideration of $1.75 million cash (in several tranches) plus the issue of 2.5 million Range shares.

Range is also involved in the Donnybrook gold exploration project (in WA).

Range shares were up 0.1c to 2.8c during early afternoon trade on the ASX.
