Oil groups gain from Perth Basin success.
The Perth Basin's emergence as an oil province is timely, with exploration success combining with strong prices to keep market attention focused on the basin.
Origin Energy is one of the big winners from it's exposure to the Perth Basin with the potential for a $70 million pre-tax bottom-line boost to it's earnings following it's onshore success with hovea and Jingemia discoveries.
Meanwhile,a swag of mid-size to junior companies,including AWE, ROC, ARQ, NWE, HDR and VOY stand to gain from further success offshore.
The consortium announced yesterday the CH 3 appraisal well had stuck a 45 meter oil colum.
ROC,the operator said resrvior quality and extent would not be known until wireline logging was completed

Then it goes on with what we already know.

Shaw Stockbroking analyst John Colnan said the latest success gave the market added confidence that Cliff Head would prove commercial even though reserve estimates were still to be made.
That confidence was reflected in the share price of all the players.
