NUCLEAR STOCK INVESTOR ALERT! Silex Systems Limited.
Posted on July 19, 2011 by ncnuke

Here is a great article by Tim Boreham covering Silex Systems Limited trials and tribulations in their solar biz. NCNUKE even gets a mention.

So they get 125 million in Australian government funding and still complain about unfair Chinese advantages?!?!?

    More after the jump!

So they bought BP Solar for 20 million, and get 125 million in gov funding and are still complaining? Well solar technology is ever improving. Just like computer hardware. It is also expensive. The low cost producers, even if they don?t have the very best technology have an inherent advantage. Solar power also relies heavily on government sponsorship. The Chinese are the ultimate low cost producer in the world. Is it a level playing field? Heck no the Chinese cheat like hell! From currency manipulation to lax environmental regs; and the horrible mistreatment of workers. Worst of all the outright theft of intellectual property.

All that said. 125 million in funding for a business that you paid 20 million for?!? If you cant make that work out, there are problems. Silex is apparently a company used to getting catered to. It helps that they are partnered with global industrial powerhouse GE. The informed have wondered why Silex ever got into the solar business. We like the strategy though. It seems like a good way to diversify. Plus it is based in sunny Australia. An ideal location for solar power. What we haven?t seen though is Silex leverage its material science wizardry in it?s solar business.

Does Silex have any unique technology it can use to its benefit? Or is it just going to rely on its government arm wringing to survive in the solar business? Plus can Australia, a major exporter of raw materials to China protect this relatively small business sector?

If it wasn?t for government subsidies the solar business would be a tiny fraction of what it is today. We love Global Laser Enrichment, we are unsure about the solar biz.
