Not Sure Why This Stock is so Polarising

Kinda bemused by this stock and why folks get so wound up about it. Reached the view that more people than I thought must treat the share market as a short-term casino. Thus if a share doesnt "pop" in short order they get all bitter and twisted.

Since discovering the explorer/developer sector I have found it is possible even with very little knowledge to strike a balance between too much diversification and lower returns on one hand, and very few stocks and too much risk on the other, and still beat the bank by a huge margin.

I also believe that given a retail investor's limited information they can never know for sure whether a share is a total dog or going to be a spectacular sucess.

The corollary of that is that I choose half a dozen stocks based on the information I have, but secure in the knowledge I have no ultimate insight into which is going to be spectacular, and then just wait and see.

The other part of the equation is of couse that because we are in the explorer.developer sector the returns are so high when something does pop that they will easily outweigh the dogs over a smallish number of stocks.

So in my case I am down 24% on one, up 116% on another, up around 140% on a third, down around 10% on BDC and up 30% on the last.

Second and third best returns were from events/success I had no insight into whatsoever. Best one, I did see enough to think I kinda saw it coming.

Where am I going with this?

Well if I cant really predict either good or bad things, but I know when good things do occur in the sector they are really good, then I just buy a small portfolio and wait; enjoy the surprises and dont get upset when bad things happen. And then I have no need to get all sour about the directors or anything else that seems to impact a particualr stock.

So in summary totally relaxed about this. Directors may be good, bad or indifferent. Have no way of knowing but will keep on for a bit because in the context of a portfolio doesnt really matter too much.
