suppressing a comidity is actually good business. If you keep the price under control you stop a boom bust senario. Biggest problem with a boom is that every man and his dog start looking for that resource. This means more completion due to more mines being built with then means cheaper long term price. He is in this for a lifetime and not just trying to flip a few rocks for a quick profit. Just my opinion and may not be the reason for shorting, but makes sense to me.
