Next US comapny under investigation AOL Time Warne

NEW YORK (CNN/Money) - Whether or not U.S. stock markets are able Thursday to hold on to the prior session's huge gains may depend in part on how investors react to the latest disclosure of an accounting investigation, this time involving AOL Time Warner.

Early indications point to a flat to lower start for the major stock indexes.

AOL Time Warner (AOL: Research, Estimates), the diverse media company, said late Wednesday that the U.S. Securities and Exchange Commission is investigating the accounting practices at its America Online unit. The disclosure tarnished a better-than-expected profit performance for AOL Time Warner, the parent of CNN/Money.
