News: Thundelarra has copper hits at Ox Eyed Herring

  1. Thundelarra (ASX:THX) has found further significant copper mineralisation at the Ox-Eyed Herring prospect within its Allamber Project in the Northern Territory’s Pine Creek region.

Assays have returned 8 metres at 2.71% copper from 112 metres in TAL136RC including 5 metres at 4.23% copper and 1.07% bismuth from 113 metres.

Drilling has also discovered additional sheeted copper mineralisation at the prospect.

TAL126RC intersected 5 metres at 0.68% copper from 143 metres including 2 metres at 1.18% copper from 144 metres while TAL136RC returned 6 metres at 0.31% copper from 123 metres.

The late stage alkaline granite has been proposed as potential source to be tested.

Geophysical data is awaited from completed downhole surveys to help guide the siting of subsequent drilling.

The two holes at the Cliff South prospect could not be collared in the ideal locations and consequently further work to test properly the zone below the base of oxidation is still needed.

Allamber continues to offer significant exploration potential, particularly at the Ox-Eyed Herring and Tarpon prospect areas, and these will be the subject of further work programs in 2015.

    Ox-Eyed Herring

At Ox-Eyed Herring, holes TAL126RC and TAL136RC were drilled to test for deeper sulphidic zones inferred from recent geophysical interpretation.

TAL126RC was terminated prematurely at 156 metres due to strong water flows and the potential for collapse of the collar.

Sulphidic zones were intercepted at 126-128 metres and 139-148 metres. High copper grades returned from these zones included 2 metres at 0.57% copper from 126 metres and 5 metres at 0.68% copper from 143 metres (including 2 metres at 1.17% copper from 144 metres.

The mineralisation is associated with gold, silver, tin and bismuth.

A downhole survey was undertaken and the results are pending. Further work on the petrology and the alteration is needed to assist in targeting the location of the inferred intrusion currently considered as probably responsible for this type of mineralisation.

The continuing development of the understanding of the Ox-Eyed Herring / Tarpon prospect areas is of some significance and these areas in particular warrant detailed follow-up in future work programs.

Thundelarra had $6.45 million in cash as at 31st December 2014.
