News: Copper surges 3.7% in New York

  1. Crude oil may have grabbed all the attention overnight with a 7% surge, to be up 19% in just four days, but industrial metals were also strong performers.

    In New York high-grade copper for March delivery surged 3.7% to US$2.58 a pound.

    Zinc added 1.3% to US$2,155 a ton, while aluminium increased 1% to US$1,891 a ton.

    Tin improved 0.9% to US$19,025 a ton, with lead up 0.3% to US$1,856 a ton.

    Nickel closed down 0.1% at US$15,310 a ton.
