I have in the past grown corn and climber beans. They are considered companion planting as the climbers use the corn to grow on. It worked very well indeed. I can relate to that steady and generous supply of beans you enjoyed. I liked growing zucchinis too as they are a fun little present to give to people. Sometimes I used to scratch their name in the green skin so they could see to whom they belonged. But I needed to keep an eye on them otherwise they would be massive and not very edible, but I learned to get very careful, especially after a day or two of heat when they grew while you looked at them.....lol
